The Drying Centre is a fully functional processing line located in the ‘Innovation Centre’ at the University of Hertfordshire. It was established in 2009 as part of the ongoing relationship between Secomak and the University to develop groundbreaking drying and energy saving technology.
The centre features a high speed conveyor capable of running up to 1200 containers per minute and is available with both wetting and drying stations. The facility is utilised by Secomak to perform comprehensive drying trials for customers and uses a combination of high-speed photography and instrumentation data to determine the drying and energy requirements on any type of container.
The area is currently in use by BSc, BEng, MSc and PhD students for the completion of projects in conjunction with Secomak. These include low energy techniques in drying, anti-condensation trials, and high speed photography for flow visualization and noise reduction.
